Open Shelving...

I love open shelving in a kitchen but I will admit I am too chicken to do it in my own. Why? I have the design already set in my mind and it just won't work, or I should say, I am not letting it work. But I did manage to incorporate some into the Wexford II kitchen, you know, the fab gray kitchen I am planning on. Here are some great images that served as inspiration...

Hope they eye candy suits you on this Monday. For me it is the beginning of another busy week before we head off to Missouri for the Holidays, lots of items to finalize this week for Wexford II & our home. Time to put another pot of coffee on!! Mel xo

Oh, not so Plain

So I have this wonderful friend that lives over in England, of course she is reading along and always passing great finds my way. She sent me a note about Plain English Cabinets and well, she knows me, and she knew I would be head over heels in love. Here are a few tid bits that I am loving from the link...

And yes, I do post a lot about kitchen, but I so do love them all! Mel xo

Kitchen element 2...

The second element I will share with you for our new kitchen is the butcher block counter I am doing on the island. Trying to get the Mr. to go for it was next to impossible...but I can be very persuasive and very consistent when wanting something, he usually puts up a good fight but he lost this one.

I wanted to add warmth to the kitchen since I will be going for a cleaner white than what we have now on our cabinets. This will be the perfect way to add depth, character, and the wow factor. I am leaning towards an edge rain walnut for the material but I need to confirm the flooring first, I want to ensure the tones play well off of each other.

Here are just a few more images that made this decision too easy...

And on another note, here is the pic I took out on the lot on Friday. Yes, that was this past Friday and that is snow...everywhere. The lot is getting the final prep before excavation starts.

Things are trucking along here, I will have a good long update post in the next day or two...lots going on in our world of construction! Mel xo
